UK broadcaster dumps Michael Jackson parody
UK broadcaster SKY has announced it will not broadcast footage of Joseph Fiennes as Michael Jackson, following comments by family members.
The Urban Myths episode also starred Stockard Channing as Taylor and Brian Cox as Brando on a road trip to Ohio to flee New York after 9/11.
“We have taken the decision not to broadcast Elizabeth, Michael and Marlon, a half hour episode from the Sky Arts Urban Myths series, in light of the concerns expressed by Michael Jackson’s immediate family. We set out to take a light-hearted look at reportedly true events and never intended to cause any offence. Joseph Fiennes fully supports our decision.”
Family members criticised the series with Paris Jackson tweeting, “I’m so incredibly offended by it, as i’m sure plenty of people are as well, and it honestly makes me want to vomit.”
The series also features one of Carrie Fisher’s final roles as a waitress in a diner, plus Eddie Marsan as Bob Dylan, Ben Chaplin as Cary Grant, Aidan Gillen as Dr. Leary, David Threlfall as Samuel Beckett, Iwan Rheon as Adolf Hitler and Rupert Grint as Hitler’s friend.
